Hi Rosella –

Welcome to the PCT-L. On your first point (resupply) – it is quite possible to buy along the trail for much of the PCT. There are a number of books (check Yogi’s guide at www.pcthandbook.com), as well as letters to this list, that have outlined how to go about that. There are places you might need to supplement by mailing yourself something. Also, if you have special dietary needs this might not work well.

You will definitely want to mail yourself a “bounce box” which can hold battery chargers, nail clippers, etc – all those things that you don’t want to carry, but will need every couple of weeks.

Secondly – on your physical condition – you can hardly do too much to get in shape. However, having your feet in shape is important, and many people have a variety of remedies. I suggest just walking beforehand in the shoes and socks that you will hike in. You will also want to adjust how you start the PCT to the physical condition that you are in - don't do 25 miles the first day out if you are not in shape to keep up that pace.

In addition, there are specific exercises that you can do to strengthen your ankles – best to talk with a physical therapist about what would help you.

Have a great hike - Kent
