One more suggestion in the Sierras: Just past where you leave King's Canyon
National Park (at the Piute Pass Trail junction) you will come to a trail
that goes west along the S. Fork of the San Joaquin River and leads to
Florence Lake. A little over a mile down that trail at the edge of Muir
Ranch there is a trail that goes south down to riverside campsites. There
are some on eaxh side of the river. If the flow is such that you can cross,
there will be Bleaney Hot Springs nearby. Soaking sure felt good after
walking from Tuolumne.

Oregon: When I walked through central/northern Oregon I met a group on the
trail that had climbed Three-Fingered Jack as a day hike from a PCT highway
crossing. Also close to the trail were Mt. Jefferson and the Three Sisters.
