Howdy Tom,

Thanks for the kind words on my blog.  Yes, this occurred somewhat north of
Kendall Catwalk.  Just on the north side of Alaska Lake.  In case you guys
are interested I've included a link to the KMZ posted at google communities
from that night.

Also, I made a cairn in the middle of the trail when I found Jim to help SAR
find us in case they came in on foot.  It's probably still there.

I just want to confirm what Eric said. The fall was AFTER the Katwalk and
Ridge Lake, heading north toward Park Lakes and Spectacle Lake. I was hiking
up there Thursday and talked to some backpackers who heard the helicopters
in the middle of the night. I doubt that anyone could survive a fall from
the Kendall Katwalk. Be sure to read the blog entry--the guy who saved James
is a real hero.

Saw two southbound thruhikers at Ridge Lake but didn't catch their
trailnames. They hope to finish at Campo by mid-October.
