It isn't easy jamming 8 days worth of food for one person into a bear
can. Each of you will need your own bear can, and you will need to plan
carefully how you are going to pack all of your food into one.

If there are bear cables that you can use for the first couple of days,
that will make packing the bear can much easier.

It just sits on the ground somewhere where it won't roll far if a bear
kicks it. Don't leave it too close to your campsite. If a bear comes
around to check out the bear can, you don't want him checking your tent
out next.

A bear can is too big around for a bear to get his mouth around it, so
he won't carry it off, but he may move it around a bit as he tries to
open it. Don't tie anything to it. That will just provide a handle for
the bear to carry it away.

Each person in your group will need one. With careful planning, you
should be able to fit 8 days worth of food for one person into it.
