I use my folded space blanket for this, does the same thing as the foam mat
in the pack, but gives me a ground cloth that really helps to keep my body
heat near me when I'm sleeping.

Hmm, interesting.


I guess a couple other considerations would be inflation and deflation, and
using it with a frameless ultralight pack. Looks like it takes a bit of
effort to blow the thing up, and would add to pack up time in the morning. I
really appreciate being able to pack up and get moving fast when it's cold.
Also not something that can be quickly pulled out for a siesta.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like it could serve the same
purpose as a foam pad in the front of a frameless pack (mariposa, etc)
