Yes, it is that time of year to get ready for the 2009 campaign.  It is fast approaching.  On the trail no mercy will be granted and the hiking wounded will be bayoneted.  Many a hiker will be circling the drain as they saunter up a steep trail in the hot relentless sun.  Here is a prayer that should be said everyday by the hiking hoard.

Dear Lord, 

So, far today I am doing all right. 

I have not gossiped about other hikers and their hiking base pack weight. 
I have not been greedy or yogi’d too much off other hikers or trail angels. 
I have not been grumpy or nasty to my trail partners. 
I have not been selfish with my snacks and GORP. 
I have not whined that the trail is too steep or long. 
I have not hiked too fast or too long each day.
I have not been stingy and not bought my share of brews at the trailtown saloon.
I have not complained that the day is too hot and there is no breeze. 
I have not eaten everything at the only trailtown AYCE salad bar.
I have not been mean spirited to any Female Terminator Leadership Types. 
I have not overindulged eating my Snicker bars. 
I have not cursed or yelled at anyone, except Switchback the Trail Pirate. 
And most importantly, I have not repeated any of Switchback’s hiker jokes. 

But I will be getting out of my sleeping bag in a minute to start a new hiking day, and I think that I will really need your help then.
