Hey Jollylopper,

The beauty of Southern California hiking is how little of it those  
millions of people so close by ever do. You will not even know some  
of the world's largest cities are so close. It will feel even more  
remote at times than the High Sierra, although it won't look anything  
like it.

Enjoy your hike. It'll be beautiful in April!
