Really? Mine do not weigh that much at all. Maybe it's the cheap  
knock-offs I have?

It is embarrassing to admit, but I used them mainly for going pee in  
the middle of the night. I don't know what it was about the trail,  
but when I had to go I had not a moment to spare and I didn't want to  
pee on my shoelaces.
