I tried a coffee filter but with a narrow mouth water bottle it didn't work well, hard to hold and very slow. Only used one a few times. A couple of times when the water was real bad, my hiking partner filtered for me.
When he was down here, Smiley told me about the MSR Hyperflow Microfilter by MSR, it is a fairly new model, lightweight and expensive. Has anyone used one yet?
