The amount of wood a wood stove uses is tiny. You use small sticks 2  
inches long. You can hardly call this 'firewood'. You could even burn  
manure in it. The PCT isn't a high alpine, above treeline experience  
most of the time, and you can use an alcohol stove in more sensitive  
areas.
