[pct-l] "Alcohol stove fuel"

I have a "White Box"alcohol stove,that works great on the yellow
"Heet".However when I tried a hardware store, and bought some "Sunny Side"
denatured alcohol solvent;that claims to be alcohol stove fuel, and marine
stove fuel,the first few times it worked fine,but after that,it worked only
with a yellow smoky flame.
    Are there similar experiences out there...?
