[pct-l] Whitney Permit

Hey Sean,
If you are only accessing Mt. Whitney from the JMT on the west side you do not need a permit.  If you are accessing Mt. Whitney from the Whitney Portal trailhead on the east side you do need a permit.  The forest service has a great map on their website that shows the permit required / not required areas around the mountain.  Their website:

Ok this is not the normal do I need a whitney permit post. I have read tons
of them and it seems no one can completely come to agreement. Here is my
question. Who is thru hiking and will be getting a whitney permit just in
case? I am a NOBO thru hiker. If you are to..I would like to hear from you.
