[pct-l] Pinching penny gear questions: bags/pads

To further my thoughts,

On our recent Snow Course where the ambient temp. only got down to the 20s
at night, one of the students asked me how cold a bag I carried. My answer
was: 0 to 15-degrees below as I'd rather be too warm and sleep under my bag
than to lose sleep, strength, and good decision-making to the cold.

Coincidently, on that trip I took along a thinner and narrower pad than I
normally would. Won't do that again! I spent the night rolling around and
feeling for the edges of the pad because of the cold coming through and
around.
