Conditions: all snow, all the time.  Difficulty: extreme.  Not sure what
else to add.

Random tips: he'll need snowshoes or skis.  Bring plenty of tools for
route-finding because there won't be any trail anywhere.  Beware avalanche
hazards during warm spells.  Plan for a slow rate of travel and high energy
consumption.  Watch for late-season snowstorms.

Emphatically not recommended for anyone except experienced mountaineers.

The normal start date for a SoBo trip is around June 15th, plus or minus one
or two weeks depending on the melt-out that year.
