I wore overglasses from Walmart last year ($30).  They had enough side
protection for me.  The lenses got small scratches right in the
middle, where the ends of the over-the-ear parts impacted when folded
up.  I think putting tape over the ends would prevent that. I didn't
really notice the scratches while wearing the glasses, your eyes don't
focus at that point.
