[pct-l] Check Cashing

I'd start a Paypal account and get the Paypal debitcard/Master Card. It
will cost you $.30 and 2.9% of the transfer for each time they send you
money but you'll get 1.5% back when you use the card as a credit card.

I ask because I have a friend that is willing to send me money (if need be) after I'm on the trail, but doesn't feel comfortable sending cash through the mail.

If so, then any Post Office will give you cash - I believe up to $50, if you make a minimal purchase. Also, large supermarkets [Safeway's, etc.] will give you cash if you make a purchase there with a debit card.
