I am getting ready to go backpacking in Utah.

Off trail, beautiful and more important than answering Internet squabbles. :)

Four days in Abbey country from Sun - Weds.

Tonight? I am bringing some home-made pumpkin ricotta mini-sized pies to a wine tasting.

Why? Because being with friends and cooking great food (if I do say so) is part of being
a Magnanti,,,,and more important than Internet squabbles, too. (The lady friend, as my grandfather would say,
joining me is pretty cute, too :) )

And Thanksgiving? I am spending with 3 other thru-hikers, a lovely woman who is
the fiance' of one of the friends, and whose friendships have gone beyond backpacking.
(I am the best man in their wedding this coming summer). (And my lady friend is off to her
own Utah adventure over Turkey Day weekend..kick ass!)

Why? Because deep friendships mean more than Internet squabbles.

Part of me would love to get further into this morass....but, I am taking the advice
of another dear friend and moving on.

Let's all think of what we are thankful for.

In my case, I am thankful for the stark beauty of Utah that I am about to see,

The friends whose life I am fortunate enough to share in.

And how the outdoors brought many of these deep friendships (and the new relationship)
into my life.

Feel free to insult...it's only online. :D What means the most to me in life is far outside the realm of some text on screen.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go walk a dog I am watching for some friends.

They mean a lot to me as well. They are family.

Their three year old son calls me "Uncle Mags"...and that means more to me
than any Internet squabble. :)

Have a Happy Turkey Day all!
