Iceaxe,

Thank you for the expenditure report for your hike of the PCT. That is
helpful for planning purposes. I must adjust for food expenditures though. I spent close to $150.00 on food from
Rainy Pass, WA to Snoqualmie Pass, WA this summer (About 220 miles).
None of which was "REIkers" Prepared meals. I think my greater food
expense per mile is due to my Italian heritage. I need a minimum of 7
spices (three have to be fresh) just for a pot of mac and cheese! The
gallon of olive oil for a 250 mile hike cost $28.00 alone! If I could
get everyone to plant Oregano and Basil along the trail my pack would
be much lighter. I experience a personal weight gain of about 2.5
pounds for every 100 miles I hike. If I hike the PCT from end to end I
figure I will be a good candidate for the Biggest Loser. By the way, just picked huckleberries drizzled with melted chocolate and a Hazelnut espresso are a wonderful treat after an antipasti lunch when you are above 5000 feet. I can not wait till next year!

Ever Higher,
