Kern Regional Transit runs regular buses between Bakersfield and Lake Isabella. They also run another bus from LI to Onyx. You'll have to hitch up to Wal;ker Pass from there.

  Brian here (stick) from pct 2007. Probably going to be doing some hiking
  next year for a month or two along the PCT. Going to go north from Kennedy
  meadows or that area like highway 178 before Kennedy meadows. Looking for
  the cheapest way to get to that area. Are there any buses that go from one
  of the bigger cities to lake Isabella? I am not sure what will be the
  easiest to get to that area from Las Vegas? Fresno? LA? Currently thinking
  flying into LA, then trying to get out to the saufleys and hitching north
  from there. Any suggestions.
