Here is an idea for coming off the hiking hunger -

If you eat food that is as close to real food as possible, you won't need to worry about the quantity you eat (at least for several weeks). Avoid food with flour and added sugars and fats. These are the foods that will put on the fat where you don't want it. Eat fruits and vegetables and nuts and eat as much as you like. This means drop the chips, the greasy foods, the pizza... If it's a grape versus a raisin, take the grape; Ketchup versus a tomato, take the tomato; Apple versus applesauce, take the apple... You get the idea.
