First I affixed velcro to all the pairs of shoes I bought for the  
trip (I bought 4 pairs in advance.) Then I packed a sheet of sticky  
velcro squares for on-trail fixes. I found the Dirty Girls will still  
do the job without velcro. I also found the velcro handy for field  
"repair" to my tent when the zipper stopped zipping, letting  
mosquitoes in.
