It Should be pointed out to the *Novice Hikers* that Trail Pirates also use
the SPOTS.  They use them to find
out were the hiker are - get ahead and set an ambush. However all that is
required to get away from the Pirates
is to tell them that you are Natural Wildlife that has been Tagged and they
will let you go - Pirates are not
all that smart.

of fun watching hikers progress up the trail:

I have this sudden vision of a 'wild kingdom' episode where they capture
and tag hikers before releasing back into the wild in order to track the
annual migration of the elusive PCT thru-hiker.
