I'd also be cautious about this section of the article.  I know from personal experience, that what 
you say to a journalist may, or may not, be quoted accurately, and may, or may not, be in the proper 
context!

I also know the SIBBG biologist that you refer to, I think, Tori Seher, and she would definitely disagree with that statement....if he made it, and it was about what it appears to be.  Frankly, 
I doubt it.  Tori has attended the last several Kick-Offs, and no one who has attended her 
presentations likely forget them. I always go for the entertainment value.

In the interests of complete disclosure, there are those in the "bear community", such as Tori, who I also respect greatly (google her, and you'll find lots of stuff), also very passionate about black bears, who diagrees with Roger's approach, particularly feeding bears, which she and others catagorically oppose.  Perhaps obviously, when such good people disagree on something, it is because they are approaching it from different perspectives:  practical bear control in the madness of 
Yosemite, and trying to understand the basic biologic functioning of black bears in a more wild environment.
