I spent the night on the ridge above Spectacle Lake, before you drop
into the treed, relatively viewless Park Lakes BAsin (heading south),
and will agree that this stretch - between the top of Escondido Ridge
after the long, hot climb up from Waptus Lake, and the ridge above
Spectacle Lake, is one of the most beauteous 20 mile hikes anywhere on
the trail - rivaling the southern, high sierra. The trail going up/down
Escondido Ridge was one of the slower stretchs for me - I just kept
stopping and marvelling, getting lost in the 3000' craggy peaks across
the valley... Enough!

Eric,

Spectacle Lake may just be the pertiest little lake on the entire PCT. If the trail wasn't close due to fire re-route, there is no way I would recommend missing this section.
