What about the litigation?
If you don't mark the trail when you see a snake and somebody gets  
bitten, they could sue you for failing your duty of care?
Wow, I saw a snake on the trail and the trail wasn't even marked!  
That's dangerous.
Snake marking is a stupid idea.

Alternatively you could ask the snakes to leave their usual marks on  
the trail?????
