Does anyone know of any good, low-cost places near the PCT, prior to the San Jacinto Mts, to layover from a couple of days to a week or more, and why? This would be for a thru-hiker possibly wanting to wait for some of the SoCal snow to melt. What about Borrego Springs or Palm Springs...any good campgrounds there? Any local knowledge appreciated.
