When you consider that the journal entry was a 1 1/2 day hike south of
the first water cache, it is clear that the writer does not have
first-hand knowledge of the presumed vandalism.

I started my 2008 thru hike attempt philosophically opposed to water
caches. I arrived at Scissors crossing with no water, and the San Felipe
creek was dry. It is amazing how fast your attitude will change when
your circumstances change.
