First time PCT user wants to start out hiking this stretch from S to N,
which seems about 75 miles, in September. Suggestions? Thanks.

That's a great section and a great choice for your first run. It was my
first section hike eight years ago.

My one big suggestion is that you should keep your precise dates flexible if
at all possible and watch the weather forecast carefully. September can
have some of the best hiking weather of the year but it usually sees a
couple of big, multi-day storms blow through as well. If you're coming up
on your proposed departure date and the weather looks bad, see if you can
delay for a few days and it'll probably clear up.

There are some pretty good ups and downs on that section, too, so make sure
you're in reasonably good hill-climbing shape if possible.

Eric
