[pct-l] Triple Crown Awards Gathering

The ALDHA-West gathering and Triple Crown Awards ceremony are fairly low-key, like the kickoff.  We solicit photos from each TC candidate, one from each of the trails and one in their youth, and put these into a presentation that is shown at the ceremony.  Each recipient is called up, the dates of his/her thru-hikes are read off, the plaque is awarded and they're asked to offer a few words of wisdom.  



This just in; Ralph Drolinger; co-founder of Adventure 16 and former basketball player at UCLA in the late '70's and NBA (he's taller than I am!!), will speak at the ALDHA-West gathering on the evolution of gear. His son works for Jansport currently which is going through a "back to the roots" effort (going ultralight) like North Face and Eddie Bauer (First Ascent) have also done recently, getting back into wilderness gear from their previous ventures into "wilderness fashion".
