[pct-l] flower identification?

  I recently did a section hike from Kennedy Meadows to Echo Summit. 
There was a really beautiful flower I saw at higher elevations, 
especially in the area before I started going down to reach Sonora Pass. 
It grew in dense clusters of what looked like shiny, irridescent 
balloons, mostly maroon with white stripes. They were very close to the 
ground. Anybody know what they were?
