Hi, Dan!

We're going to post the Snow Course Schedule to the PCT-List and to our Forum site at Postholer while our website is being remodeled.

Basically, there will be a free Snow Course, 3-day weekend training trip every other weekend throughout this winter. The Snow Course Description posted at http://postholer.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=25 is still the best source of trip info..

For all of you in SoCal, we will be offering a second annual Snow Course for SoCal, as well. Check the schedule....

  Subject: Ice axe courses

        Dear Ned,

I'm planning a PCT thru-hike for next year. I've seen your posts on the PCT email list about snow safety. Thanks for sharing your expertise! I've used an ice axe before, but only once. I used it for balance, stability, and glissading, but never had to self-arrest or anything like that. It sounds like your classes provide a good overview of the necessary skills. I was wondering if you have any classes planned for late December or early January. I'm a student, but would be on break during that time. I'd love to know what you have planned and what the fees are.

        Thanks!

        Dan "Bear Can" Cross

PS - Are there any ice axe models you'd recommend as ideal for a PCT thru-hike? (I figure I'd only carry it for the Sierras portion, figure late June or early July.)
