Whimpie,

Perhaps this has been brought up previously in response to your 
question, I dont read the list every day, so I miss a few here and there.

I saw you post you are focusing on landing on your heels.

There is a growing movement in the running community to do the exact 
opposite.  According to this group, that is the root of all evil in 
regards to joint pain, as they claim it is an unnatural way for the body 
to bear the weight (that was brought on by running shoes).

I have to say, it makes sense to me.

I have seen more than one person now hiking in the "5 toes" types of 
shoes, and have even considered it myself.

There is tons on this subject on the internet, just do a search.

No personal experience just wanted to point it out to you.
