In trekking in Indonesia and/or Bali, where there is a good chance (100%) of
having 2 or 3" of rain fall out of the sky everyday, especially in the late
afternoon, the approach was much like the PNW people: get wet (hey - free
shower)... but there, since the temp was in the mid/upper 80's, the
approach was to strip down as much as decently possible, wrap the pack in
plastic... and carry forth... or sit somewhere comfortable, and watch the
forest come to life with all the rain... and try to avoid the monkey
attacks - they don't like "invaders" in their forest territory - if you're
walking they generally won't bother you, but sitting makes you a target
;-(
