[pct-l] Trail Names/Fox Noise

I think Strider had it right in an unrelated post. Trail names allow us to
shed the markers of off-trail life and identities and embrace the comraderie
of the trail and it's fellowship. Not only do we leave behind our other
names, but rarely do you hear someone on trail inquire as to the occupation
of those they encounter on trail as a means of pigeon holing another hiker;
something all to prevalent in off-trail life. The same should be true of
politics; the absence of politcal discussions and viewpoint as a litmus test
for the validity of one's opinions in other areas is usually absent not only
on trail, but on this list, and thankfully so.

Brick, not just as administrator of the list, but as a hiker and general
poster is obviously entitled to post his opinions. No one will ever agree
about politics. It is, however, instructive to consider all viewpoints. I
rely upon multiple news sources with a variety of viewponts, and I rarely
accept or reject one based on doctrinaire faith garnered from a political
posistion.

Let's embrace our mutual passion for the trail and leave politics behind.
On trail, and on this list, we should all be equal and leave division
behind.
