[pct-l] Using halfrmile's GPX waypoints as POI's

so most GPS's have a waypoint limit,

and i am having a hard time figuring out how exactly to bipass that for
halfmiles maps,

can i convert all 7,000 waypoints into POI's and load them as part of the
system's basemap? if room is needed i can delete sections of the basemap (btw
anyone know how to do this?) POI's are unlimitted, so i could simple load up
the garmin... strip it of ALL maps and memory, then load necessary topos, and
add all of halfmile's info as POI's in the basemap.

has anyone done this? the two issues i'm having is finding a way to convert all
7,000 waypoints into POI, instead of one at a time... and how to delete from
the base map that the garmin comes with.

help?
Thanks !!
~Paul
