Hi,

I slept with my food next to me (sometimes under my head as a pillow) every
night along the trail -except when I had to carry a bear can... and except
on two days of hiking just north of Cascade Locks where there were mice.
Other than that it was under my head, in my sleeping bag, or within arms
reach.  Never had any problems.
