How to unsubscribe from the list (or change options, such as disabling email):

Go to <http://mailman.backcountry.net/mailman/listinfo/pct-l>...
(Link is always included with each mailing as "More information about the pct-l
mailing list")

Scroll down to "Pct-l Subscribers", enter your pct-l email address in bottom box 
and click on "Unsubscribe or edit options"...

Follow the instructions on the subsequent page - "In order to change your membership 
option, you must first log in by giving your membership password in the section below. 
If you don't remember your membership password, you can have it emailed to you by 
clicking on the button below. If you just want to unsubscribe from this list, click 
on the Unsubscribe button and a confirmation message will be sent to you."

If you wish only to disable receiving email (changing/editing your options), enter
your password and click on the "Log in" button...
On the next page, scroll down to "Your Pct-l Subscription Options"...
First item is "Mail delivery" - click the "Disabled" button then scroll to the bottom 
and click on the "Submit My Changes" bar...

If you want to check on the list while not getting email deliveries, simply go to the
archives at <http://mailman.backcountry.net/pipermail/pct-l/>...
Personally, I leave the email disabled all the time and just bookmark the current month 
from the archives and read only the posts that interest me...
