No experience with that particular shoe, but I would avoid Gortex on the PCT.  Once wet, it takes a lot longer to dry.  And they will get wet, especially from fording creeks.

Subject: [pct-l] Salomon trail runners

Does anyone have experience with Salomon's XA Comp 4 GTX Trail Runners? They
are the only trail runner I can find made by Salomon that is Gortex lined.
The sales guy at REI said he really liked them but used them for running,
not for backpacking. I'm trying to decide between these and the New Balance
900 series (women's).
I feel like the Salomon shoe has a better fit, but everyone seems to love
the New Balances for backpacking.
Any input would be appreciated!
