[pct-l] Stoves

Hi Richard:
For what it's worth, I did some back yard tests when I was considered
using Esbit tabs this year and the hottest stove, by far, was the
factory Esbit unit that folds at a 45-degree angle. It weighs about 3
oz, I believe. It boiled water better than anything else I tried. I
think it has to do with the way the air flow is controlled (German
engineering) - the air currents shear past the sides of the fuel tabs
very cleanly, with a lot of updraft. Could not duplicate the heat it
produced, trying several different designs. Ultimately I decided to go
with alcohol due to wider fuel availability, but I like that little
stove and would not hesitate to use it.
