Yes, not only will there be great foods at the Ruck (June 3-6), but tons of ice. Think about that as you bang along the trail. The heat is beating down on you. The heat is beating up on you from reflection off the ground, rocks, etc. No where is there relief, only continual dehydration and skin cancer causing radiation. You are faced with a parched tongue and a slow agonizing death before you even get to the real Sierras.

Then all at once you sense you are approaching a tropical paradise in the Sierra hill country. You are approaching Walker Pass and the Ruck. All at once you know you will make it. All at once you smell water in the air. But it is something more. There is a coolness and chill that ripples through your body. What could it be?

It is ice. Lots of ice. Tons of ice. A new Ice Age of ice. An avalanche of ice to make drinks cool to parched lips and dehydrated bodies. You dream of making snow cones. You dream of having snow ball fights. You think you are becoming delusional. You quicken your pace to almost a gallop down the trail.

Yes, the Ruck is all this and more.
