If he was working on his truck with his buttocks protruding then he really couldn't see who did it. When there is violence at home it is normal to first suspect the spouse not some innocent bypassing bear. Does the wife have an alibi? 

At any rate it was probably justly deserved punishment for exposing mechanics' crack.
