Not really,  Primo is a very sucessful Arabian endurance horse who had won
several endurance races. He was very fit and did very little sweating. Just a
little under his saddle pad. We only walked on the PCT - very easy for him. It
was never necessary to wash him. I just brushed him with a small curry comb that
I brought along. Primo was never injured nor did he suffer from colic during
over five months on the PCT. The Long Riders Guild made me a full member and
asked me to write an article on how to keep your horse safe while riding the
PCT.  You might be interested in reading this article since you are a concerned
member of PITA.  You can find it on the web at:
thelongridersguild.com         click on "stories from the road"
found on the column at the left. There is a picture of Primo and I at Monument
78.

MendoRider,

How often do you bathe your horse?
The horse is the one doing the majority of the sweating on your treks!  :o) ;-)

Happy trails!!!
