One night in a Virginia shelter on the AT, I crawled into my bag and had
forgotten to take off my sweat soaked hat. I normally hung my hat before
crawling in my bag, but not wanting to get up, I just set it down beside me.
In the morning it was gone. My three shelter mates and I searched for a half
hour with no luck. If you see a black bear running around with a Columbia
