I hope that you find a new doctor and let the old one know why you are leaving. You might point out that the loss of you as a patent is his fine.  As a doctor he is educated enough to know that the law is the law and that if we all behaved by what we thought "should" be legal we would have anarchy.  One wonderes if he practice medicine the same way.
