[pct-l] cyclists

Dear PCT,

So many cyclists organize themselves into groups. I belong to a cycling
club. I know people in the Santa Cruz, Fresno and Sacramento cycling
clubs. Maybe I can prepare a nice, respectful documentary type essay to
raise awareness in these clubs. We have a monthly newsletter and I will get
it published and everything. If we can raise awareness among an extended
group of cyclists, that would be one strategy to re-claim our hiking trails
for the "wilderness experience".

I can also support more law enforcement in these areas but I can't ever
condone sabotage or vigilante justice. We have to be better than they are
and do things the right way!

I only bike on roads and you just wouldn't believe all the old remote roads
that exist, which go into the hills and give splendid views. I can always
tell who the trail bikers in the club are; they are the ones with all the
broken bones. The trail is just not a safe place for bikes, they hit rocks,
tree roots. etc.

Give me some time, I have to work, I have a family and everything but I'll
post it here first and then you guys can give me feedback before I submit it
to the cycling clubs. Maybe we can all look up the cycling clubs in our
area and ask to submit our "awareness essay".

This is something constructive we can do in our off season!!!!

Melanie
