yeh I doubt very highly it was a hiker episode. I know when I was in a pissy 
mood all I wanted to do was hike a hundred miles in one day! lol and I would 
rather pack in food than a piece....unless that piece was of chocolate 
cake....mmmm

I don't remember the details, but a crazy person did gun down two female postal 
workers here in TN a year or two ago.  Not sure of the details, but I think one 
of the victims was a former wife or girl friend of the shooter.  Pretty sure it 
was a domestic dispute, not a hiker-gone-mad incident.  Besides, no legitimate 
thru-hiker would have a gun, right?

Just called to check hours, etc at the Darby MT Post Office. Ed says for   
security reasons they can no longer hand a box through a door on Saturday - 
"a  couple ladies were killed back east in Tennessee". This may become a 
problem for  hikers in the future; so, Has anyone else run into this?
