Dear Sam

Last year, I found two free sites:

1. Free routable maps http://garmin.na1400.info/routable.php
--- good information at city area are included, but no topological data

2. GPSFileDepot: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/
---Excellent topological map of California, but no geographical name,
no information except topo.

I had combined two kinds of maps ( by sendmap20.exe, free soft, you
can get it from http://cgpsmapper.com/ ) and made GMAPSUPP.IMG file
and I had gotten a free excellent topological map of whole California.
It worked well at JMT last summer.
You can down load this file from

http://psycho01.edu.u-toyama.ac.jp/Garmin/GMAPSUPP.IMG

Your task is to make folder "Garmin" in micro SD card, and copy
GMAPSUPP.IMG into this folder.Unfortunately, Tortoise could not use
this map.

My GPS is Map60Csx It works well, though I do not guarantee. If you
want use free soft, you need some knowledge about software.
