Hello from Pooh Corner!

It is still snowing a bit along the PCT near Donner Summit. Here are base
snow depths reported today by the three ski areas south of I-80/Old Hwy 40.

Alpine & Squaw will be open on a limited basis till Memorial Day so their
snow reports should be updated till then. Sugar Bowl closes on May 1.

   - Sugar Bowl (Mt. Lincoln) 160-282" http://www.sugarbowl.com/4305
   - Squaw Valley (Granite Chief) 188" http://www.squaw.com/snow-report
   - Alpine Meadows (Ward Peak) 133-261"

The manager of the cross-country resort on the crest says that the melt is
flowing under 30 ft of snow at his resort. The Truckee River is bank full.
The reservoirs are dumping all the water they are allowed to and
anticipating being brim full after the melt for the first time in seven
years.

This week we have five feet of snow on the driveway at Pooh Corner.

Sorry I'll miss the kickoff.

Tomorrow noon, Molly and I are heading to southern Utah. We'll be back in
Truckee no later than May 26. We'll be out of cell phone and internet
contact most of the time we are gone.

See you soon! We'll be open from June 15 to July 22 or perhaps a little
later. Call and check at 530-563-6867

Best wishes
