I have had some problems. I find hiking in convertible hiking pants with no
underwear, especially with the legs removed is a great help. Reason, those
areas get a lot more ventilation and air-flow. Also helps keep me cool and
going.

> Hi all, I'm hoping to get some advice. For the last five years on my PCT section hikes I've ended up with moderate to severe chafing on my inner thighs. My wife has always said I have soft skin and I'm still not certain whether to take that as a complement or not....anyway....have others come across this problem and how have you handled it? I'm most interested in prevention. I'm now hiking in less abrasive hiking shorts which has helped, but at some point I end up having to apply a rash ointment which I now carry. On my upcoming hike I was going to bring bag balm which I use for long distance biking, but would prefer not to have to bring the gooey stuff. If you've had this problem, how have you handled it? Thanks so much, Mountain Mike
