We camped at Vidette Meadows one night. We set up east of the trail, away from Bubbs Creek. Very early in the morning we were awakened by the sound of a huge boulder tumbling down the mountainside above us. I lay there trying to remember where the tent was in relation to that slope. All we could do was lay there and hope for the best.
